Vintages
2020 Vintage
The growing season for the 2020 vintage started with a dry winter, with below average rainfall for the entirety of the vines hibernation. This has been the new norm over the previous few years and has lead to predictably slightly lower yields.
Flowering this season saw possibly damaging wind events, but fortunately our vineyards have set well in both Vine Vale and The Western Ridge.
Summer has seen some extremely hot weather but the vineyard has an excellent canopy which has protected the grapes through this trying time.
We are currently in the midst of veraison. The crop set is showing excellent quality, with slightly smaller berries which generally leads to excellent taste and structure!
2019 Vintage
As predicted the 2019 vintage provided some excellent grapes. Unfortunately frosts and the lack of winter rains meant it was a low yielding vintage.
Winemakers, however, were very happy with the quality of the fruit, especially the reds with their intense colours and flavours.
