Robert Seelander
Robert Seelander, the Vineyard Manager, has been an integral part of the Haan wine story. He was the vineyard consultant/manager for Hans and Fransien Haan in the early years of the vineyard, and then became full-time Vineyard Manager in 1999. Robert is Barossa born and bred. He and his family have owned and worked vineyards in the area for more than 100 years. Robert’s first foray into the vineyard was as a three-year-old when he “thought he would help his grandfather prune the family vines.”
Robert has more than 60 years’ experience, the last 22 with Haan Vineyards. A fifth generation member of the Barossa wine industry, Robert has wine in his blood, and continues to manage family vineyards growing shiraz and grenache.
Robert is a passionate and respected viticulturist in and around the Barossa Valley and has earned a reputation as “the man with the magic hands.” His expertise was recognised in 2010 when he received the prestigious Barons of Barossa awards of Vigneron of the Year.
